The First and Emergency Aid Program, was founded in 2011 within the scope of Giresun Üniversitesi Vocational School of Health and began its educational activities in the 2014-2015 academic year.
Within the scope of the Turkish Higher Education Qualifications Framework (TYYÇ); Our students who graduate from the program obtain the title of technician by having Basic Field Competencies coded 72 (health) under the International Standard Education Classification (ISCED) fields to which the programs are related.
Graduated students are eligible for SHORT LEVEL 'Associate Degree' at the 5th level according to the Qualifications Framework for European Higher Education Area (QF-EHEA) and European Qualifications Framework for Lifelong Learning (EQF-LLL).
Students are accepted through the central placement by ÖSYM, based on the results of the "TYT" score type for the First and Emergency AiD program. Additionally, priority is given to candidates who have graduated from high schools in the fields of health services.
Recognition of previous formal learning in higher education institutions, vertical, lateral and university transfers are carried out in accordance with the Regulation on the Principles of Transfer Between Associate and Bachelor's Degree Programs in Higher Education Institutions, Double Major, Minor and Inter-Institutional Credit Transfer published in the Official Gazette dated 24/4/2010 and numbered 27561, and "Associate and Bachelor's Degree Programs in Giresun University Higher Education Institutions" and the decisions of the Implementation Principles Directive on Transfer between, Double Majors, Minors and Inter-Institutional Credit Transfers. The adaptation of these students to the education programs is made by the relevant unit administrative boards.
To graduate from The First and Emergency Aid program, students must complete theoretical and practical courses for 3 semesters and vocational training courses in business in 1 semester successfully. Completing all the courses in the program (equivalent to a total of 120 ECTS) successfully and having a GPA of at least 2.00 out of 4.00 are the qualification requirements for the graduation.
The First and Emergency Aid Associate degree affiliated to the Vocational School of Health Services provides 2 years of formal education. The language of education is Turkish. The International Standard Occupational Classification System (ISCO-08) and International Standard Education Classification (ISCED-F 2013) codes of the program within the scope of YÖK are 3258.01 and 005.0912.001.001. Purpose of the Program The purpose of The First and Emergency Aid program is to train health personnel at a professional level who can provide pre-hospital health services within the framework of legal authorities and responsibilities that define pre-hospital health services, and provide life-saving and disability-preventing medical intervention opportunities until the main treatment of the sick and injured in the hospital. The program aims to provide students with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills. The Model of the Education 3+1 Vocational Training in Business: Within the scope of the Framework Regulation on Applied Training in Higher Education; While theoretical and practical courses are given at the school for 3 semesters, vocational training is given full-time in a health institution for 1 semester. This model promotes students' adaptation to the business world and enables them to gain experience in real working environments.
Graduates of the First and Emergency Aid program can work in the units of public and private health institutions and organizations that provide emergency health services. They can be empolyed in the Emergency Services of public and private inpatient / outpatient health institutions and organizations affiliated to the Ministry of Health, 112 Emergency Stations, 112 Command Control Centers, Private Ambulance Services, etc. They can get appointed as Health Technician (Paramedic) according to the Public Personnel Selection Examination (KPSS).

Exams, assesment and evaluation are carried out in line with Giresun University "Associate and Undergraduate Education and Examination Regulations" and "Giresun University Vocational Schools Coordination 3+1 Vocational Education Model Implementation Instructions".
Graduation Requirements include conditions on declared ‘’Qualification Requirements and Rules’’ heading.

The First and Emergency Aid Program uses the classrooms and application laboratories of the Vocational School of Health Services for theoretical courses and applications. Program Opportunities for Practice Basic and Advanced Life Support Models Airway Patency model Simulation Model Ambulance equipment (Ambulance stretchers, Laryngoscope, Splints, Emergency bag etc.). In addition, the program provides students with the opportunity to promote their professional experience by offering internship opportunities in health institutions in Giresun in practice courses and also in health institutions in all provinces within the scope of vocational training course in the enterprise.
