General Description

Child Development Program, was founded in 2012 within the scope of Giresun Üniversitesi Vocational School of Health and began its educational activities in the 2018-2019 academic year.

Within the scope of the Turkish Higher Education Qualifications Framework (TYYÇ); Our students who graduate from the program obtain the title of technician by having Basic Field Competencies coded 72 (health) under the International Standard Education Classification (ISCED) fields to which the programs are related.

Graduated students are eligible for SHORT LEVEL 'Associate Degree' at the 5th level according to the Qualifications Framework for European Higher Education Area (QF-EHEA) and European Qualifications Framework for Lifelong Learning (EQF-LLL).

To graduate from the Child Development program, students must complete theoretical and practical courses for 3 semesters and vocational training courses in business in 1 semester successfully. Completing all the courses in the program (equivalent to a total of 120 ECTS) successfully and having a GPA of at least 2.00 out of 4.00 are the qualification requirements for the graduation.

Recognition of previous formal learning in higher education institutions, vertical, lateral and university transfers are carried out in accordance with the Regulation on the Principles of Transfer Between Associate and Bachelor's Degree Programs in Higher Education Institutions, Double Major, Minor and Inter-Institutional Credit Transfer published in the Official Gazette dated 24/4/2010 and numbered 27561, and "Associate and Bachelor's Degree Programs in Giresun University Higher Education Institutions" and the decisions of the Implementation Principles Directive on Transfer between, Double Majors, Minors and Inter-Institutional Credit Transfers. The adaptation of these students to the education programs is made by the relevant unit administrative boards.

To graduate from the Child Development program, students must complete theoretical and practical courses for 3 semesters and vocational training courses in business in 1 semester successfully. Çocuk gelişimi, Türkiye Yükseköğretim Yeterlilikler Çerçevesi'ne (TYYÇ) göre sağlık ve sosyal hizmetler temel alanında eğitim öğretim yapan bir programdır. Program müfredatı; TYYÇ’ nde tanımlı, önlisans 5. düzey, Yükseköğretimde Avrupa Yeterlilikler Üst Çerçevesi (QF-EHEA) kısa düzey ve Avrupa Yaşam Boyu Öğrenme Yeterlilikler Çerçevesi (EQF-LLL) 5. düzey yeterlilikleri dikkate alınarak planlanmıştır.

TheChild Development Associate degree affiliated to the Vocational School of Health Services provides 2 years of formal education. The language of education is Turkish. The International Standard Classification of Occupations (ISCO-08) and International Standard Classification of Education (ISCED-F 2013) codes of the program are 5312.01 and 005.0922.002.001. Purpose of the Program The main aim of the Child Development Program is to educate staff who adopt the importance of child development and education, recognize the developmental characteristics of children aged 0-18, gain knowledge about the habits and needs of children, and take precautions against the problems that children may encounter. Additionally, the program aims to train technical staff who can recognize children in need of special education, organize an appropriate educational environment for these children, and are conscious about maternal health. The goals of the program are to provide qualified personnel to the field who are knowledgeable about the symptoms of diseases that can be seen in children between the ages of 0-18, who know the ways of prevention and patient care techniques, and who have fundamental knowledge and skills in first aid; The aim is to raise staff who can prepare educational toys suitable for children's development levels and developing technology, who can maintain and repair the machinery, tools and equipment they use, and who can prepare daily menus and food in accordance with the principles of the workplace. The Model of the Education 3+1 Vocational Training in Business: Within the scope of the Framework Regulation on Applied Training in Higher Education; While theoretical and practical courses are given at the school for 3 semesters, vocational training is given full-time in a education institution for 1 semester. This model promotes students' adaptation to the business world and enables them to gain experience in real working environments.

Our Child Development Program graduates can be employed as an assistant teacher in pre-school education and inclusive education, as a designer in the children's publications and toys sectors, as a childcare worker for the children of working parents, in public and private institutions providing pre-school education such as nurseries and kindergartens, also in private education and rehabilitation centers, in children's clubs and inclusive education classes.

Exams, assesment and evaluation are carried out in line with Giresun University "Associate and Undergraduate Education and Examination Regulations" and "Giresun University Vocational Schools Coordination 3+1 Vocational Education Model Implementation Instructions".

Ölçme ve değerlendirme için; her öğrencinin dönem başında derslere kayıt yaptırması gerekmektedir. Dönem sonu sınavına girebilmesi için, derslerin en az %70`ine devam etmiş olması gerekmektedir. Öğrencilerin her hangi bir ders için yarıyıl/yıl içi değerlendirmesi en az bir ara sınav olmak koşuluyla ödev, uygulama ve diğer çalışmalardan oluşabilecektir. Yarıyıl/yılsonu sınavının başarı notuna katkısı en az %40 en çok %60 olacaktır. Tüm sınavlar 100 puan üzerinden değerlendirecektir. Yarıyıl sonu sınavından en az 50 puan alma zorunluluğu vardır. Bir dersten AA, BA, BB, CB ve CC harf notlarından birini alan öğrenci o dersi başarmış sayılacaktır. Daha önce başka üniversitelerde öğrenim görmüş ve programa yatay geçiş yoluyla gelen öğrenciler, bu kurumlarda alıp başarılı oldukları derslerden yönetim kurulu kararı ile muaf tutulabilecektir.

Child Development Program offers internship practice in educational institutions affiliated with the Ministry of National Education and the Provincial Ministry of Family and Social Services in Giresun province, and in institutions affiliated with the Ministry of National Education and the Ministry of Family and Social Services in all provinces within the scope of vocational training course in business. It allows them to consolidate their professional experience.
